Modern SUVs are packed with helpful automatic features, but sometimes drivers want old-fashioned manual control. A common question that our dealers hear from drivers relates to how to turn off headlights on Jeep® Grand Cherokee 2019 models. Luckily, the process is simple, and usually the reason that they stay on is due to a helpful safety feature; here at Heritage | MileOne Autogroup, we’re here to walk you through the steps.
Using the Headlight Control Dial
Your primary manual control is a rotary dial located on your SUV’s dashboard, which is located to the left of the steering wheel. To manually control your headlights, you can turn this dial to the “O” position, which stands for “Off.”
It is important to note that your Daytime Running Lights may still remain turned on if the vehicle is in gear (depending on your car’s equipment), but your main headlight beams will be off. The “AUTO” setting is likely the most commonly used setting, as it automatically turns the headlights on or off based on outside light conditions.
Adjusting the Headlight Delay
If your headlights remain on for a short duration after you have turned off and exited your SUV, this is due to a safety feature called Headlight Off Delay. It’s meant to illuminate your path from the car to your destination.
If you wish to turn off this feature, you can do so through the SUV’s Uconnect® touchscreen. Navigate to Settings, select Lights, and find the Headlight Off Delay option, adjusting it to your preference.
